John Fitzgerald Preston

A renowned healer and acupuncturist, John presently lives on Cortes Island British Columbia Canada with his wife and two boys.  An honors graduate of the dept. of communication arts of Concordia University in Montréal, John went on to photograph in south East Asia where he became a theravadin Buddhist monk for five years. On return to the west he chose a career in oriental medicine as a practical way to put his eastern experience into service. His practice is on going and includes meditation, sound healing, acupuncture and herbs.  

Wrote and Directed film: “In Search of Nirvana” from conception to delivery to the first 500 viewers.
Ongoing graduate studies in Chinese Medicine

In practice as a licensed acupuncturist, meditation teacher and community leader.

joins staff of  Insight Meditation Society, Barre, Massechusetts

1977-1982   Ordained as Buddhist monk in theravadin order in Thailand.
Five years of intensive meditation training in Thailand, Sri Lanka, Burma.
Returned to North America for critical health reasons.
